Montezuma’s is a British chocolate manufacturer with national reach through John Lewis, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Co-Op and its own stores, online and internationally, via export. Established in 2000, Montezuma’s is an innovative British brand which has pioneered the championing of ethical, organic and vegan chocolate.

The Brief

Not only do we love Montezuma’s chocolate, but we also loved working with the team behind the brand! Making recommendations on a strategic level, we ensured a consistent brand positioning with consumer and trade press. We created and managed an online media centre with press access. The first line of defence, we co-ordinated journalist enquiries, television features, sample requests and media opportunities with the over-arching aim of protecting the brand’s core values and ethics. We positioned Helen, co-founder, as a figurehead through awards, exploiting coverage and exposure when she won! Handling sample requests, we facilitated a 20% reduction in the number of sent out to drive honest reviews and editorial endorsement. We were pro-active and leveraged available authentic opportunities, tracking and sharing celebrity endorsements from Montezuma’s fans Fearne Cotton, High Fearnley-Whittingstall and Jamie Oliver who spoke about Montezuma’s without incentive.
