Software for Schools Seeking Academy Status
Schools applying for academy status will be able to select their own accounting software – a move away from being forced to use the standard government option. The reasoning behind this is that an academy’s accounting function is likely to change significantly as it will generate and spend money in different ways. The required reporting will also be different with the academy’s management team, trustees, governors and investors needing more detailed information than previously required.
In addition, the Department for Education now dictates that schools have to produce accounts which comply with the Companies Act.
